The New York Labor
Coalition Against Domestic Violence

The New York Labor Union Coalition Against Domestic Violence, founded in 1996i and sponsored by Cornell University - ILR Metro District Office, is an inter-union coalition that focuses on member and steward awareness, training, collective bargaining and legislative action to end domestic violence.ii work with the advocates and community organizations to expand services, workplace protections and options for all members and their families who experience domestic abuse. The Coalition has developed a domestic violence awareness program for unions that includes a two hour educational module and a facilitator's guide to be used with a union focused video entitled "Domestic Violence: Unions Respond", that features two members of the coalition. The Coalition also produced a brochure focusing on a comprehensive union response to domestic violence and a free poster series, in English and Spanish, that is designed to be customized by unions.
